Koa
Koa
If you’ve ever listened to a Ponies at Dawn album, you’ve most likely heard her voice or danced to her production. Koa is a prolific changeling who not only loves to cook up creative bops, but to feature lots of other artists in them, and to serve as a feature in their work too.
Her music is a self-proclaimed bright, buggy, rainbow music goo. While her own productions typically incorporate all sorts of musical influences into something roughly pop-shaped, collaborations with others are even more varied! These collabs include styles from acoustic and pop punk to future bounce, electro swing, and drum and bass. Simply put, Koa is not picky about genres, especially if she can make you dance to them!
If you’re new to Koa’s songs, try her 2022 release “Rainbow Disaster Pop“, based on the YouTube series “Rainbow Dash Presents”. It contains some of her most iconic tracks, like “NO RAINBOWS PIZZA PARTY” – an upbeat party punk song about Dash leading a revolution in the Rainbow Factory – and “I had a dream I was a horse“, a silly but contemplative track heavily inspired by 100 Gecs.
Other fan favorites of Koa’s include her breakout song “To the Nines“, her Lyra-based track with TCB “Background pt. 1“, and the ever-danceable “Hermosa“, made in collaboration with Sylvver.
Koa’s live sets are as energetic as you can imagine, and maybe even more, so bring as much of your gremlin energy as you can muster to EE, and get ready to bop!
